Finally....A Christmas Card!

Whew, I finally got most of my cards made and in the mail!!! These are a simple design but they took awhile to make since I cut out the ornaments on my Cricut and had to assemble them. There were some issues (there's always something). Mostly some glitter paper that was giving me heck trying to cut it.

Top Tip Tuesday: One thing I did that you might want to try at home, make your own pop dots. You can't tell in the picture but I made pop dots to raise the ornament off the card. I used craft foam that I had gathering dust (I almost threw it away!). I cut it into one inch wide strips and ran it through the Xyron twice (once for each side). Then I cut it the size I wanted for each ornament. Since these were going in the mail, the home made pop dots were the right thickness for mailing.

Easy Peasy Cards

Happy Wednesday! I still haven't started my Christmas cards yet. Nothing like procrastinating, right? I do have some cards to share and they aren't Christmas cards! I actually made these for a friend for Christmas. I saw this card and decided I could do this!

I designed them on my Gypsy and cut them out with the Cricut. I can cut four out at a time and since I saved the file, I can make more or just change the image I want to cut and make new ones. Just make sure you pick a element that makes a good negative image when cut. I might experiment with using some phrases from Cricut cartridges and replacing the blade with markers instead of stamping a sentiment.

Can you believe there are only 15 days until Christmas? I haven't even started my Christmas cards yet! YIKES

Match Book Post-it Holder

The tree is up and decorated. The outside lights and decorations are up. I am half-way done with Christmas shopping. Whoo-hoo!! If it wasn't for teenage daughters, I would be done, LOL. Why are they so difficult to shop for?

I cannot believe how fast the month is whizzing by. It seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day.

I found a cute little tutorial on SplitCoastStampers for a sticky note holder. I thought this was so cute. This is actually a 3x3 sticky note pad I found in the dollar section at Target.

Tea, Anyone?

Hello, hello, hello! Sorry, I have been away for the last month. I got sick, my son got sick, then I got busy doing other stuff. Sometimes it is just one things after another and crafting takes a back seat to it all.

I did make one little item that I wanted to share. It is a fun box that hold and dispenses tea! I found the directions here. I used BasicGrey dp and embellies, Bazzill cs for the actual box and some ribbon from my stash.

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating!!

Halloween Fun

Yep, your at the right spot! Yes, this is a card and not a scrap book page! Halloween is almost here and although I don't usually make cards, I wanted to make one for my daughter. She is away at college and I plan on sending her a little Halloween care package and made this card to go along with her surprise. I sort of lost my scrapping mojo last week and maybe this card will help me get back to scrapping.

Every thing I used was stuff from my stash, including the stamp set. I must have bought it three years ago and this is the first time it has seen ink!

Mickey

It is day 10 of the LOAD (LayOut A Day) and I have managed to make 10 layouts so far. Hopefully I can keep up and make it through the end of the month with 31 layouts!

Here is a one page layout that I made today.  I wanted to use the laser cut title from Paper Wizard that I have had in my stash for some time now and I wanted to use papers I have had in my stash. I sort of went a little crazy a few years ago and bought a lot of Disney themed papers and embellishments.  I had hard time with this one. It kept looking like someone threw up on my layout no matter how I arranged the title, picture and papers. To keep it simple and not too busy, I only added 4 decorative staples as embellishments.

Bazzill

Birthday Bash

Hello and happy Monday! I hope many of you got to sleep in today and take an extra day off for Columbus Day. I have another layout for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I tried to use a lot of papers that had pink in it!

Link Up For Pink is having it's second annual Link Party for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you are a card maker you can also donate your cards to Link Up For Pink and they will be delivered to two breast cancer centers.

I found a layout on Pinterest that I thought was cute. Unfortunately the person that pinned the layout did not pin to the original post but only the the main blog. Soooo I can still give credit to the blog owner but not the original post. Scrapbook Generation was the inspiration for this layout:

I am also submitting this to Anything But A Card challenge #3. The challenge is obvious but you must use a stamped image on your project. I used a cute little happy birthday sentiment from Imaginisce.

Supplies used:

Bazzill
DCWV
My Minds Eye

Bling from my stash

Cricut Cartridges:

George & Basic Shapes

Dancing Queen

Hello and happy Thursday. In other words, Friday is almost here! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday#131 is asking for projects that are pink

A few years back I was in a border swap at SCS and since I am trying to challenge myself and create a layout a day at Let's Scrap I thought I could save time and use a border I made for the swap. HA! For starters, it took me 15 minutes to find this particular border.  I knew I had it, I just needed to find it! Then, I only made myself the border (Picture and Purrfect) none of the accent pieces although I did save the files in my Gypsy for a later date. Then I had to change Purrfect since Purr was in pink and you couldn't see it against the pretty DP. I also cut the original border to make it into a banner. Finally I had to make the camera. After all that I was done and just added some bling. It's a pretty simple layout but I think it is a little fun and works.

Supplies:

Bazzill
Wausau
Imaginisce
EK Success
My Minds Eye
Bling is from my stash
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Cricut Create a Critter and Tear Drop cartridges

By the way, my progress toward the Layout a Day challenge is 5/31

Vacation

Here is layout using a sketch I found at Let's Scrap. There is a little challenge going on at Let's Scrap. It is day 2 of the LOAD (LayOut A Day) challenge. No prizes, just a way to challenge yourself. The idea is to make 31 projects in 31 days. So I am hoping I can challenge myself and get a lot of scrapping done during the month of October!

I am entering this page in the Challenge Me Happy challenge # 31 - Anything Goes.

Creative Scrappers Sketch #226

Hello! Happy Tuesday every one. Here is another Christmas layout. When I was going through photos, I found these two very old pictures of my daughter sitting on Santa's lap. I set them aside to scrap and a few days later, the perfect sketch appeared on the Creative Scrappers blog. I was going to do a little journaling sort of like this...."what a difference a year makes or is it just because daddy is holding you" but silly me didn't leave enough room to journal (or maybe I just don't like how my writing ruins the page). Maybe I can write it on the back of the page! So here is my take on the sketch (and yes it is all BasicGrey paper, LOL):

I did make those chevrons all by myself!

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello! Here is  another Christmas layout. I am in a Christmas funk lately with my scrapping (or maybe just a little bit behind with the Christmas pages)! I made this layout for the Challenge Me Happy challenge #30. For this challenge, we needed to make your own embellishments. So I decided to make my own rosettes since they are all the rage right now! I am not sure if I like the two different color letters for the title yet. I might be taking a stamp pad to that H.

My Creative Sketches - August

I made this layout using the August sketch over at My Creative Sketches. I used a combination of Basic Grey papers: Wassail, Figgy Pudding, and Eskimo Kisses. I punched the edges with a Martha Stewart punch and used a little Tim Holtz Distress ink.

Here Comes Santa Claus

I made this layout for a swap on SCS. The theme of the swap was song titles and you had to use the title of the song as the title of the layout. My song choice was "Here Comes Santa Claus." There were a lot of rules for this swap so I hope I followed them all! There is a journaling tag tucked behind the photo mat. I machine stitched around the paper and made a beaded pin with beads from my stash. I used my Cricut to cut the flowers and flourish. All the DP is from Basic Grey and the card stock base is Bazzil.

SBPS #30 Double Page Layout

Hello and happy Tuesday! I can't believe August is over and September is here! Just a quick post today. Here is another layout I made for another secret sister over at SCS. It seems my most of my posts lately are for this particular swap. Hopefully that will change. Although I do love this swap!

I used a sketch I found online. My secret sister sent so many pictures and it was difficult to choose which photos to use. I picked nine out of 11 pictures. YES, nine pictures on a double page layout.

Supplies Used:

SBPS #30

I'm back! Whew, it has been a whirlwind month and summer. I can't believe August is almost over. I haven't had a chance to scrap all month long. I have been painting my basement, my parents came to visit, moved a child back to college, and now school has started.

I have a swap layout to post for my favorite swap on Splitcoaststampers, the scrap book photo swap. This is the 30th round of this swap. It has been going on for almost 8 yrs! I have been participating for 3 yrs (since round 17). For this swap you exchange pictures for a secret sister to scrap. The theme this round is "I Heart...." and a sketch. My secret sister was PMR and her kitty Lilo:

SBPS#29 Part 2

Here is the two page layout I made for doorknocker3 over at SCS. These pictures were really cool. There were some neat colors in the pictures. Not sure if it was deliberate (camera setting or just how they came out   when printed). I thought the pictures deserved some funky paper so I used my favorite line of paper, Basic Grey. The collection is from Lime Rickey. Thanks for looking!

SBPS #29

It is that time again for my favorite swap on SCS! I made this page for Luv2Smile. I used the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge to cut out all the waves. The embellishments I received in a page/card candy swap. Thanks for looking!

Happy 4th of July!

Sorry it has been a month since I have posted. It has been a busy summer so far and I haven't had any time to work on one single scrap book page or one single card or anything crafty.

I have three kids home for the summer (one who finally found a summer job) and two others that need my supervision. We have also had lots of house guests with another coming in a few weeks and some more at the end of August. Hopefully I can squeeze in some craft time in between visitors.

This is where we have been spending most of the HOT days we have been  having all month:

It is a rough job,  but some one has to do it! LOL

Have a happy & safe 4th of July!

NSD & Basic Grey: Sketch Challenge

Here is yet another National Scrapbooking Day challenge layout for Basic Grey. This was a sketch challenge. I really liked the sketch and I had the perfect pictures of my older daughter doing some archery. BUT whoever took the pictures took them at such a low resolution (or maybe Facebook resized them) that they could only be print at wallet sizes. I finally found these pictures and I think it came out great. For a bonus, the layout already in the album that is next to this one is the same line of paper! I used Basic Grey Origins for this layout. Thanks for looking!

NSD & Basic Grey: Vintage BG

Another National Scrapbooking Day challenge with Basic Grey! This time the challenge was to use vintage Basic Grey papers I think most of my papers are now vintage. SO I need to use them up so I can buy more BG {giggle}. I used Figgy Pudding for this layout.

NSD & Basic Grey: Template Challenge

Hello! More National Scrapbooking Day layouts. This time it is a template challenge from Basic Grey. The challenge was to use one of their digital scrapbooking templates to make a layout. Just like a sketch challenge! I used the Happy Birthday template and Wassail paper. Thanks for looking!

Scrap Book Page Swap - Part 2

Here is the single page layout I made for my secret sister over at SCS for the scrap book page swap. The theme was Happiness Is... and you had to have that phrase somewhere on the layout. Originally I was going to cut out the image from a SVG file but then after I got it all ready to go I realized how many small pieces there were. Now one or two itty bitty, microscopic pieces are ok but three or more can be pushing it! Especially if any are white. For some reason I can't seem to get teeny tiny pieces to cut properly in white no matter what brand of card stock. So after I wasted an hour getting it ready to cut, I went to the computer and printed an image! My fellow Pink Pajama Party Girl Carole had recently demonstrated how to cut a shape with the die and leave a part of the image outside of the die cut. I knew this technique would work for this! I also printed the journaling on the computer before I cut it out with the die.

Best part is the layout was received today by my secret sister and according to her son, my layout "totally rocks."

Scrap Book Page Swap

Yep! It is that time again. My favorite swap on SCS! The scrap book page swap is a fun swap and I've been participating in this swap for over two years now. Instead of making a gazillion of one thing and getting back a bunch of stuff you might never use, you have a secret sister that scraps a layout just for you using your pictures. It is fun to make a layout for someone else using their pictures and getting one in return that you can pop into an album!

Here is my double page layout for this round. I used my Cricut to cut out the title and the fork & spoon and one of the circles. The DP is from ADT and I just bought at Tuesday Morning (score!) , MS border punch, misc buttons, misc flourishes and Bazzill card stock.

Turtle Birthday

Well here is my version of a guy card. I have a bunch of birthdays coming up so I am forced to make yet another card, LOL. I keep telling myself that a card is just like a small scrapbook page but it isn't helping! The image is from Inkadinkado, DP is My Minds Eye, card stock is AC Cardstock, misc buttons, Nestabilities die, and a MS border punch. Thanks for looking!

Gingerbread Man

Here is another layout for the Basic Grey Weekly Challenge. This weeks challenge was to use pattern paper for the background. Well that wasn't too challenging since I just did that on my last post! All the papers are from the Figgy Pudding collection. The sketch I got from Let's Scrap.

Here is another weekly challenge from Basic Grey: Create a project with scallops. I think I got the scallop part covered! This paper is from the Eskimo Kisses line. I just love these colors! Thanks for looking!

Funky Birthday

{GASP} Your eyes aren't deceiving you! Yes, you guessed it, I have some birthday's coming up and so here is another card. This started out as a card kit I received for a girl. The only part of the kit I used, however, was the sentiment and the flower! When I saw the sentiment I thought it was kind of funky and needed funky paper. I thought of this line from Basic Grey. I thought this paper was more appropriate especially since it will be going to a 14 year old. Have I mentioned before how much I love Basic Grey? There was also two other stamped images in the card kit. One was a balloon and I think it said 'celebrate' and a cake that said 'happy birthday.' I don't know what company makes the set but they are cute. So if you happen to know the name, please let me know! Thanks for looking!

Basic Grey Weekly Challenge

Basic Grey's blog has a weekly challenge. The challenge this week is to only use solid paper. No  patterned paper! None. Na da. Zilch. This layout was made only using Basic Grey solid papers (Two Scoops, Kioshi, Olivia, Max & Whiskers, & Urban Praire lines) and Basic Grey bling, stamps and rub-ons. The butterfly was cut with my Cricut, I used a Martha Stewart border punch and the flower and both flourish were Sizzix dies. Thanks for looking!

Under the Sea?

Here is another layout that I made for the Let's Scrap challenge. They have a lot of really great sketches. I love sketches. They are such a great starting point. You can either copy it exactly or sometimes get inspiration from just one tiny part of it! A friend of mine made the little fishies. I am not sure if she used her Cricut or something else to cut these little guys out. I thought they fit perfectly with the sketch! I didn't do anything fancy, I just kept it simple. The pretty, sparkly (is that even a word? Yep it is, I googled it!) paper is by Best Creation. It is double-sided with the cute polka dot print on the back. I only bought two sheets a little over a year ago and and boy did I have a hard time cutting it! I know that's why we buy it but when I have so little of something that is pretty, I hate to use it all up!! Thanks for looking!

The Bunny

Hello and happy Wednesday! I can't believe how close it is to Easter. I haven't even started filling those plastic eggs for the bunny to hide. Yep, my kids still like to the hunt Easter eggs! I made this layout for two challenges. First the DCWV April Stack -A-Holic Challenge and the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday. All the papers and cardstock for this layout came from the DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack. There was also a sketch we has to use for the challenge which came from Got Sketch. For the other challenge I had to use my Cricut, of course! Also, there had to be an egg somewhere on your project. I used the following cartridges on my layout:

Easter 2010
Lacy Labels
Paper Dolls Dress-Up
Plantin Schoolbook

The flourish I made with a Sizzix die, the button is from Basic Grey, the bling is from EK Success. Thanks for looking!

Here is a tip when using DCWV cardstock with your Cricut. Some people do not like the white core and sometimes the paper tends to tear a little with intricate cuts especially when the size of the item you are cutting is small. Either place the cardstock onto your mat front-side down (onto the sticky part) or flip your finished piece over. The tears usually only happen on the top of the cardstock not the part adhered to your mat. Just make sure you flip the image to the mirror-image if you are working with fonts or something that needs piecing together (or just make sure all the cuts for a paper piecing have been turned over so the sticky side is now the top).

Sailing, Sailing....

Happy April! Time sure is flying by fast. I haven't even had any time lately to do anything crafty unless you count supervising decorating Easter eggs!  I did manage to squeeze in one quick layout over the weekend. I used my Cricut to cut the waves, anchor and ships wheel. Thanks for looking!

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Yep, It's a Card!

I haven't had any time in the last week to do anything crafty. I did manage to make this card last Thursday but it took me until today to get it posted! This was a card kit I had received from someone once as a hostess gift for a swap I was hosting on SCS. I have several card kits from a swap I was in several years ago too. I just need to actually start using them! I prefer scrapbooking to card making. I think a scrap page is so much easier! I have no idea what the papers/embellies/stamp is from either. Thanks for looking!

The Incredibles

Hello and Happy Thursday!! Remember when Jolee's first came out with the 3-dimension stickers? I thought those were the best thing to jazz up your scrap page. When all you had was flat stickers and gel pens, you got excited pretty easily! LOL I love buttons and brads and making my own embellishment but sometimes you just gotta go for the quick and easy and that's when they what you get here.  Although getting to the finished page was still a process, which paper, what colors, where do I put the pictures, etc, etc, etc! I did make my own bottle cap embellie though. I was pretty impressed with myself!

First Grade

Happy Daylight Savings Time! I hope everyone got caught up on their sleep after losing an hour yesterday. I had time to make a layout yesterday. I am still trying to get caught up on my daughter's school pictures. Just pretend you don't see the year in the corner, LOL! I found another flourish die in the clearance section and I couldn't resist buying it. I do like a good flourish and I think they go with any scrap page! I outlined the edge of the border with a lime green copic marker just to make it stand out a little more. Thanks for looking!
